There is something troubling about the short sayings of Jesus. This afternoon as I write I am reminded of those times, and they are several in the gospels, where Jesus puts a tag on one of His miracles by saying to the “recipient,” “Your faith has made you whole.” What a responsibility. While we all acknowledge the power of the living God working through His Son, there is that definite connection He brings through our faith. Now the faith to believe anything that comes from God has its source in Him; we all know that. But it is in the exercise of that gift that our part comes.
Whether it is physical healing or the healing of a broken relationship or financial reversal, the power is all God’s. And while I patently rotion that if people had enough faith, all in their lives would be well, there is something mysterious, powerful and personal about the faith we must utilize. God does not call us to have faith in our faith, but faith in Him, the giver of every good and perfect gift.
What is God calling you to believe Him for these days? Do you live with expectation of His intervention for your good? I’m asking myself too. Amen.
