Family Life Ministry at Redeemer

The membership of Redeemer Lutheran Church, LCMS, has accepted a call of faith from our Lord, to refocus on family life and the nurturing and growth of spiritual education within the home. It is our intent to educate people within the church and community, equipping them as the spiritual leaders of their families. Our Lord established family as a priority at the very beginning, by creating a man and woman to complement and support one another. We believe, based on the Genesis account, that God intended the foundational piece of family life to be Himself in community with the man and woman as family. Children are often a bonus gift from that union, but "the cord of three strands" referred to in Ecclesiastes 4:12 is the fundamental part of a firm family foundation.

By focusing all our activities and ministries on areas that will affect and potentially enhance family life, we are committing to building up and supporting family in all of its ages and stages. Through educational opportunities, resources, and encouragement by our staff, leadership, and members, the Redeemer Church Family is focusing on building home-centered, church supported faith nurturing spiritual growth. By making home life a spiritual haven, as well as an emotionally "safe place", God can move us back to the Biblical basics of family. God tells us:

These commandments that I give to you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. ~ Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Our "call" or command, as a church body then, is to be the support group, the cheering section, the resource center for our people, to help them be the families that God planned. This means spiritual education for all ages, spiritual challenges and accountability on a regular basis, and constant prayer to keep us all on track with God's will for us in this place called Redeemer. We continue to pray for God's guidance in this exciting challenge!
