Good Seed

Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43

Another parable from the thirteenth of Matthew. Jesus uses parables both to hide and to make aware. And God’s purposes in the world of men are just that way. Both hidden and revelatory. In this parable the good harvest of wheat comes from good seeds whom Jesus explains are the sons of the kingdom, His kingdom. And the issue is their source. The Son of Man has sown them-they were His from the start. In this parable another harvest is made and that of tares. These are the wicked and Satan has owned them and scatters them among the sons of the kingdom. He does so with his own purposes and no matter the specifics, the bottom line is that wherever our enemy bids effort in the midst of God’s people, his plan is destructive. Every. Single. Time.

Take heart, reader. Be lifted up son or daughter of the King. You were His as He sowed You and when you have borne fruit you will most certainly be gathered in a harvest of joy. Certain it is and all the days God gives to us on this side of eternity we live with the sure hope of all His promises brought to fulfillment. Good seed we are. God’s Word declares it and makes it so.

Happy Harvest!
