Served at His Table

The Transfiguration of our Lord: Epistle, 1 Corinthians 11:23-32

1 Corinthians 11:23-32

We hear these words as Lutheran Christians every week. Because we hear them and realize by God’s grace that we are being invited to a meal. And so much more. There is no space here for all the intricacies of discussion and disagreement over these holy words. And in the intricacies, or the high place we give to our musings, may be the primary cause of disagreement.

Read the text. Let the text speak. Does it offend modern sensibilities? Let it. Does it make the intellect spin and dance? Allow it. Is it beyond your capacity to fully grasp? So be it.

Relish the invitation. Eat and drink with the gift of faith given. Enjoy your place at His table. There is no finer fare to be found, anywhere.
